Hello All! Our plans are coming together! We met together for a picnic with our families recently. We enjoyed getting to know those who will be staying home and supporting us through this adventure. Christian, one of our team members, showed us some fun games he has put together for the kids we will encounter in Cambodia. We had fun playing these games and they led to lots of laughs and silly moments. We shall see if we can keep up with the kids!
After the fun and food, we moved onto the information part of our gathering. We are close to our financial goal, however we are not there yet. If you are still interested in supporting our team, click on this link for a pdf with more information, GO Journey Donation Form. Another way you can support this ministry is through supply donations. There is a list of needed supplies as well as a link for our Amazon wish list on the Hub at Davisville Church. If you choose to purchase supplies you can drop them off at the Welcome Center at Davisville Church.
We discussed books we have been reading to prepare for our adventure. Some of the titles include, First They Killed My Father, Peace Child and Pineapple Stories.
We also spent time practicing a bit of the Khmer language, being brought up to date regarding our flights and setting a date for our packing party. Our departure dates are quickly approaching!😏
On a personal note, I was asked recently why I am going on this trip. My first response was, "Because I am willing." However I found that being willing doesn't matter. In speaking with a missions pastor, he challenged my thinking. He said my reason for going should be because I love Jesus. Period. This has changed my entire perspective and my heart. I absolutely should be willing. I NEED to love Jesus in my going. Please pray for us as a team to go to Cambodia because we love Jesus first, whatever that might look like.
