Go Med Cambodia Packing Party

Well friends, things just got real!

We had our medical supplies packing party on Wed. night and God showed up in many ways!  We are all so encouraged by your generosity.  We have just about everything from our list and when a need was communicated, you all rose to the challenge!  What an awesome experience!

The many donated medicines and supplies filling tables was an amazing sight to behold.

The task looked daunting but we were able to come together to pack these offerings.  We discovered a lot about ourselves and each other, and it was so encouraging to see us come together as a group to accomplish a specific task.  This amazing group of people is made up of a retired doctor/soldier, grandmas, nurses; current and retired, a teacher, veterinary nurse, researcher, office manager, and delivery driver.  We saw medicines, bandages, a few computers, and not to be left out; 450 toothbrushes and toothpaste were individually packaged and packed!  When all was done and the dust settled, we packed 8 suitcases full of supplies, ensuring they met the proper weight limits!

And just when we thought it was time for a respite...Anissa broke out her legal pad and filled us in on more things we needed to know.  Just a taste of what we signed up for.😉 We were informed of the types of OTC medicines we would have and how they would be dispensed.  We also reviewed our tentative schedule and what changes might be added.  We got to hear about one of our potential clinic sites.  Here is a picture of where we will be serving:

Here are a few take aways from our packing party shared by our group:

  • Being touched by the way the church has come along side us and provided exceedingly more than we could have asked for
  • That working hard can be fun when we have each other
  • When we come together in Christ, we can accomplish much in a very short time
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste are HEAVY! Who Knew?
  • It was great to see the joy and harmony resonating within the group
The countdown is on.  The weather looks to be highs of 90's and lows of 78 with rain most days😅. We are all excited to see how this will translate to Cambodia and our mission there.  This Sunday June19th, Davisville Church will be praying for our GoMed Cambodia trip during both services.  Please join us in praying - we covet those prayers.
Departure Day - Sunday June 26th!
